Busy weekend

[info]equusmaximus  and I decided to close the bowling alley for the long weekend because it seems a lot of people go camping on this weekend. We closed from the Friday to Victoria Day Monday.

On Friday, equusmaximus and I went to a place where equusmaximus bought things from an auction sale. We stopped in Swift current to buy some heavy duty straps, barn paint and among other stuff. We loaded up the some of the stuff and the baler onto the truck. Because we had to travel slow we took the back way to Shaunavon as equusmaximus mentioned in his post. As we were travelling on Hwy 13 I saw for the first time in my life a real badger. At first I thought it was a huge cat until it when into a hole. Then I realize I saw a badger.

On Saturday I stayed home while equusmaximus and kidling went back to the place to get the rest of the stuff. I thought it would be good bonding time for the two of them and the kidling really wanted to check out the other stuff that was bought.

On Sunday we cut some grass and thatch out of where we want to put up a gas tank. We found a lot of "treasures" hidden in all that grass and thatch. We worked on that until almost sundown.

Yesterday equusmaximus and I worked on the pile of rafters that was left behind from the garage that tore off the house just before we looked at the house to buy it. It was long and painful job of get those things apart and the amount of bloody nails they used was enough to drive you nuts. Well needless to say it did not get finished but we layed them again a building to be worked on later.

Slowly but surely the farm is starting to look better. We are even getting comments by  the people in town saying that it finally looks like someone is living there again.

Today it is back to the grind of waiting for people to come the bowling alley to bowl.

A very successful auction sale!

My Mom's auction sale was yesterday. It was a huge success! The sale brought in twice as much as we were expecting. [info]equusmaximus bought a lot of the things he wanted even an old 50s grain truck.

What made the auction such a huge success was that my Dad and my middle brother with the help of my oldest brother had a mobile grain seed cleaning operation. There were several people interested in them. There were two outfits. The first one was built by professionals, the other my Dad and brothers built. The built one was for pulse grains (chicken peas) mostly. At any rate the professional one went first, my middle brother was hoping at least 60k. Well two groups of people were bidding on it back and forth for a long time. Finally a group out bid the other. That group was a Hutterite colony. You might want to sit down for this..... they bought it for 122k! Unbelievable! On the other hand the home built cleaner did not go for as much as they had hoped. There were other things that bought in more money than they should have and others not so much. Over all it was a success my Mom will be pretty much debt free. I am glad it turned out so well for her. All of us had our tough times at the sale remembering our father after just a couple of weeks of losing him. But this is celebration of he wonder life here on earth. He was with us that day.

sad

I've arrived back at the farm safe and sound this afternoon.

I would like to take the time to thank everyone who responded to [info]equusmaximus 's posting about my Father passing away. It has been a rough week. I am still emotional but I am just going to have to trod on. Tomorrow I am going to get back into my normal routine, grinning and bearing it. But the sooner I face the real world the quicker time will heal the pain I feel inside my heart.

Once again thank you to everyone for the wonderful support. A special thanks goes out to a wonderful, loving mate [info]equusmaximus .

I know that I have been just commenting  to others LJ postings lately but I never really had much to say.

Equusmaxiums and I tried to get my stationwagon licensed in SK, but it failed the test. I am not a happy camper. I love that car. So we decided to send it back to AB and sell it there. To fix the problem of not having a car I asked my sister if I could use the car that they had sitting at my Mom and Dad's place. She agreed. It is only temporary until we can buy a  vechile for me.

This week the schools in Shaunavon have been out and the bowling alley has been busy because of it. I am happy for that.

Kidling just turned 12 on Thursday. We had a fun glow bowl party for him and his friends. It looked like they had a lot of fun.

Gosh it is hard to believe that kidling is 12. I am old! Oh well, time flies when you are having fun. :)

There is a horse on the loose!!!

My big Oooppps for the day.

I was feeding Charles and Bonnie this morning.  I had my hands full of hay with it in my face, I could not see the gate very well. I thought I closed it tight enough but it must have had a little gap and Charles decided to investigate. I left the garage door open as well. So he nosed his way though the gate and out the door. I thought "Oh no!".

I ran and got a rope to put around his neck. When I got close to him he would winnie at me (like he was laughing) and run off passed me.

At one point he run off to the highway. All I could think of was "Oh no, I am going to have a dead horse on my hands!". Thankfully he stopped about 3 feet from the highway and tried to run into the ditch. He soon realized it was very deep with snow that he wheeled out of there and ran back down the road into the yard.

After chasing him around the yard for a few minutes I was able to herd him back into the garage. This time I closed the door. After the door was closed he looked at me like okay I give up now. I was able to put the rope around his neck and lead back to his pen.

What a close call. I will not be leaving the garage door again when I am feeding them. If they leave the pen they are not going to get far.

Happy New Year!

Hey everyone! It is the beginning of another year. [info]equusmaximus and I spent the afternoon fixing the temporary barn for the horses. We now have our other two horses ( Bonnie and Charles) in the barn. I am surprised at these two. Soon as the hole was there for them to come in, they wanted in. Pooh Bear and Dirk took a little more convincing.

The day turned out beautiful weather wise until about 5:00 then it started to get cold and windy.

Well here is hoping that this is the year that equusmaximus and I achieve our goals. Especially our goal to have a little one. :)

A cup of cheers everyone.

Happy belated Christmas everyone. The past few days have just flown' by me and I am not sure what all had happen because it went by so fast.

Christmas eve went over well with the perogies and mushroom cream sauce. I stayed up late with [info]equusmaximus helping wrap gifts where I could.

Christmas day went over well too. Everyone got a lot of gifts. I think everyone was pleased with their gifts. I got lots of chocolate ( for the chocaholic :) ). A housecoat and a ring from my mother-in-law. A massage pad for a chair, a foot warmer and massager from [info]equusmaximus A candle holder with horses on it and money from my parents. Bath stuff and a picture frame from my brother. And last of all but not least a cup with a tea strainer in it from my brother-in-law. Of course lots and lots of love. All in all I am very pleased with my haul of gifts.

On Boxing day and today the family basically just relaxed and rested. Including shopping for deals if you call that relaxing. :)

Enjoy the rest of 2008 everyone.

I am so happy I could fly! :)

Groat

I went into the hospital this morning feeling depressed with the thoughts going through my mind. The doctor is going to look at the stitches, she going to freeze my finger, it is going to hurt like hell.

When I got to the nurses station who would greet me but Rita. She was taking care of my finger before yesterday. It had to been her day off yesterday. I told her what happened yesterday and she said they should have taken a blade and cut under the knots to get them out. So that is what she did. Guess what?!! It did not even hurt and they slipped out so easily. Boy! She is the best nurse I have had during this injury.

Picture Trixstir doing a happy dance and flying around here. :)
